| What is the Lehigh County Conference of Churches? "The Conference had its beginnings in the Greater Allentown Council of Churches which began in 1954 with 34 members. Today, the Conference is over 140 churches faith-based organizations from a wide variety of Christian traditions, Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox, who are combining their resources and energies to address issues of human need. As can be seen throughout this web site, the Conference offers a soup kitchen, a drop-in center for the homeless and those in mental health programs, a referral service, a housing assistance program, prescription assistance, a representative payee program, a program that works with the street homeless, a student mentoring program and a variety of ecumenical programs. |
