NAMI-CAN
Child and Adolescent Network
Living a life that is challenged by mental and emotional health is often difficult and can bring obstacles to our daily lives that require support, creativity and non-judgment in order to work with these challenges in a healthy way. This support group, NAMI CAN, is specifically geared towards parents and caregivers as a way to offer companionship and understanding for these unique family situations.
Shawna Sniezek and Lori Christine Young will be facilitating this group. Lori is a professional counselor and spiritual director, who works with issues of mental health professionally and personally. She has a special interest in the spiritual perspective of mental health and how we can tap into this dimension in order to better understand our lives. Shawna Sniezek has watched families struggle through issues of mental health and wants to help.
Please join us on the 4th Monday of the month beginning Sept 26 from 6:30-8:00 to offer and receive support, share stories and problem solve in a caring and non judgmental environment. This group meets at 802 W. Broad St, Bethlehem, PA. There is no charge and registration is not required.

Support Group Meetings
If you have a family member who has a brain disorder (mental illness) such as depression, bipolar disorder, ADHD, ODD, OCD, anxiety disorder, pervasive development disorder, autism, or schizophrenia, we have a lot in common. We know what a struggle life can be when mental illness strikes, because as families affected by no-fault brain diseases, we’ve “been there.” We want you to know that you are not alone. We want to share with you the community of hope that we have found through NAMI. We hope you will join us.
NAMI LV offers peer-led support groups for family members and loved ones of people living with mental illness. These support groups offer a confidential environment and allow participants to learn from the experiences of other group members, share coping strategies and offer each other encouragement and understanding. It is NAMI LV's goal to have all support group leaders trained in basic group facilitation skills.
There is no fee for attending the support group, you need not register in advance and everything shared in the group is strictly confidential.

NAMI Pennsylvania, Lehigh Valley is the leading valley wide membership organization comprised of families, friends, professionals, and people with brain disorders (mental illness). We are dedicated to improving the lives of people who must cope with this devastating brain disorder. Founded in 1983 by a small group of family members, NAMI PA Lehigh Valley continues to grow and network in our community.
Family members or persons with a serious brain disorder not only endure the initial shock of the illness, but then must face a challenging future learning to cope with the responsibility of caring for an ill relative.
The false information and stigma that surround brain disorders keeps many families from seeking the help, support, and information that they desperately need.
If you feel alone because of a serious mental illness in your family, NAMI can help. Members of Lehigh Valley have had similar experiences. You will find reassuring support and understanding, as well as receive education about brain disorders, available treatments, and coping skills.
